Samantha has been the Chief Counsel of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) since August 2017. The AFP Chief Counsel practice has a national footprint, including lawyers, litigators, FOI practitioners and practice management staff across the ACT, NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.

Sam is passionate about the professional development of in-house Government lawyers across the Commonwealth and brings broad experience from her work in private and government legal practice, including as a Senior Associate at Clayton Utz and General Counsel at the former Department of Human Services.

Sam is motivated by the work of the AGLS and what it can achieve, and will focus her time on the AGLS Board towards ensuring the continued provision of high quality legal services to Government, including through the sharing of ideas, methodology, systems and processes and (wherever appropriate) legal advice between agencies.
