Toni Pirani is the First Assistant Secretary of the Legal Services Policy Division in the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department.

Toni Pirani is the First Assistant Secretary of the Legal Services Policy Division in the Australian Government Attorney-General's Department. In this role she leads a division responsible for royal commissions, legal assistance, native title and the Office of Legal Services Co-ordination.

Toni has been the Official Secretary to the interim National Commissioner for Defence and Veteran Suicide, the Official Secretary to the Disability Royal Commission and the Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Services Royal Commission. She has also co-ordinated the Commonwealth's legal representation before several royal commissions including the Home Insulation Royal Commission and the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Toni has more than 30 years experience as a government lawyer working across a range of Australian Government agencies including the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the Department of Finance and Administration and the Migration Review Tribunal. She has been a senior executive in the Attorney-General's Department since 2007.
