Kathryn Haigh
First Assistant Secretary – Public Law and Modern Slavery Division, Attorney-General’s Department

Kathryn Haigh is the First Assistant Secretary of the Public Law and Modern Slavery Division in the Attorney-General's Department. Kathryn’s public law responsibilities include:
- leading the Office of Legal Services Coordination, including the management of significant legal issues
- developing a consistent Commonwealth legislative framework governing automated decision making
- managing the department’s implementation of certain recommendations arising out of the Robodebt Royal Commission and the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
Before joining the Attorney-General’s Department in 2022, Kathryn was Chief Counsel at Services Australia and General Counsel at the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC), Australia's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulator. As a former Commonwealth prosecutor, Kathryn was involved in a range of Commonwealth prosecutions including frauds against the Commonwealth, online child exploitation cases, people smuggling and human trafficking matters.
